hehe solide! Voici le récit de mon cours de samedi (en anglais... je l'ai posté hier sur un forum anglo avant, et je suis bien trop lazy pour le traduire et trop a job, pas le temps! lol)

Okay, so day #2 yesterday! Did 2 more flights, 21minutes and 26 minutes!

The first flight was earlier in the day, and there were a ton of clouds, and the ceiling was pretty low. We figured it wasn't the best weather, but we wanted to fly XD. In the end, that flight was AMAZING. The tow plane found a hole in the clouds so we went up in a tunnel of clouds, and realeased at it's top, at 3300ft. We circled in that tunnel, surfing on the clouds, going through a tiny one at the middle of the hole, it was BEAUTIFUL.

I flew a DG-505 for that flight as the ASK21 was under repair for a microphone problem. The DG-505 is a veeeeeery nice glider, but I had my first 2 classes on the ASK. As a matter of fact, the DG-505 served as the base for the Perlan I glider that had the former world record for altitude. I did fly in the DG for my familiarisation flight though, but I didn't get to pilot it much and I didn't have any reference to something else either at the time. So even though the DG is thecnically a much more advanced sailplane than the ASK, at the moment I prefer flying in the ASK21. It is so much easier to pilot XD. Also the instrument panel get more in my view in the DG-505. I 'm not sure if it's taller or it's because the seat position is a lot more inclined (you are almost laying on your back), But I'm not a fan of the instrument panel blocking my view. It is, however, a way better plane, it has a finess of 50 (It'll go 50x the distance as it has height, in ideal conditions of course). The ASK has something like 34. Thats probably mostly du to the fact the ASK21 has a fixed gear while the DG's gear is retractable. You can also add water weight in the DG as it is equipped with water ballasts. I do not beleive the ASK has water ballats. I sure didn't see the water dump handle...

The second flight was later in the day, around 13h30 and was done in the ASK21. The clouds were mostly gone, and the sky was blue! There was still quite a few big cumulus which is ideal to get thermals. So as usual, the instructor did the takeoff and kept controls while we were being towed. However, this time, as soon as we were at a safe enough altitude so that we can maneuver if something happens, he asked me if I wanted to fly the rest of the tow :O. I was scared shitless, but I immediately accepted, and I did REAL good. I gotta watch the rudder though. You have to be a lot more gentle with it while being towedas the cable does most of the yaw work fo you, so it's super easy to give way too much rudder. As soon as I understood that, the rest of the climb went super smooth! Released the cable at 2900ft

We went circling in a thermal a bit which gave us 300 feet more, and we then did another thing I wasn't expecting: we went a lot further from the landing strip than I did before. We did a triangle of about 25 - 30km. It's not a big trip by any means, but I got to see what it can feel like when you are running out of altitude. We weren't in danger of not making it(even if we didn't catch the thermal), but we didn't have THAT much of excess altitude. So I got to see a bit how you can start to feel if you ever start running out of altitude!

I am also making the radio calls myself, and even though the instructor does the approach and the landing, I am guiding him vertically, verbally. I basically tell him if we are too high or too low, and he adjusts accordingly.

The composition of my turns is getting really good, but sometimes I don't do it right. When I talked about it on the ground, I said something like "I got to work on the composition, I miss one every so often...". 2 guys looked at me and said wait... you have done 3 flight, and "you miss once in a while"... dude. I have done over 20 flights and I still suck at composing my turns XD

So all in all, another very good day at the field, I'm progressing really fast, I hope my progression will keep being that fast for still a little while, but I guess at some point, I'll get to the more juicy stuff and it's probably going to get a lot harder lol. Still, for now, I'm doing really good, and I'm enjoying every second of it! The instructors are super nice, the other students as well, and we got a really cool spot!

Quand j'habitais à Toronto au début des année 2k je participais aux regatta du TYC sur le lac Ontario, je ne fesais que "wincher"... Depuis j'ai toujours voulu apprendre à faire de la voile...

Ben voila, apres 2 enfants et 10 000 autres choses, pendant mes vacances cette été j'ai fait mon cours d'introduction et j'ai enfin pu naviguer en solo sur un deriveur de 17 pieds. Depuis je suis sur les annonces classées pour un 28 à 33 pieds

Ca va sonner prétentieux en criss... mais pour vrai... J'ai du talent! 3ieme instructeur différent que je pogne aujourd'hui... 3ieme instructeur qui a du mal a croire que j'ai juste 6 vols dans le corps. Je suis rendu que je fais mon remorquage moi meme, meme par une journée venteuse que le maudit comme c'était ce matin... Je suis hyper smooth en ligne droite comme en courbe, je suis bon pour maintenir ma vitesse...

Les gens commencent à voler solo autour de 40 vols (+-15+16h). J'ai l'impression que d'ici le #25 - 30... je vais me faire envoyer solo... Peut être que je vais finir par pogner un plateau et progresser plus lentement, mais en ce moment, la progression va vite, très vite, et à chaque vol je suis de plus en plus à l'aise là dedans!

Maudit j'ai hâte à la semaine prochaine XD

3 takeoff et un landing de faits! En 11 vols. Normalement, je ne suis pas censé voler solo avant la fin de l'année prochaine. Là mon instructeur me dit que d'après lui, l'année prochaine, je les suis en campagne (vol voyage).

Jme sens hot un peu! Je pense qu'il y a une couple de gars qui capotent un peu. Y'en a un qui vient me voir après mon premier vol et me dit "Je pensais que c'était toi qui faisait tes décollages maintenant?" j'y dis ouais, c'est moi... Il me répond "Ben non! T'étais hyper steady a 1 pied du sol... je pensais c'était l'instructeur qui pilotait!" . Pour une mise en contexte, le planeur décole un bon boutte avant l'avion. Faut rester bas pour ne pas tirer la queue de l'avion par en haut ce qui l'empêche de décoller.

L'atterrissage... mettons que c'était moi à 95%. Le prof a corrigé le lacet une petite affaire avant de toucher le sol juste pour pas que le planeur reçoive un coup inutile. Si on avait eu le temps pour un 3ieme vol aujourd'hui, je penses que je le mettais à terre tout seul

Alors là encore une fois, j'ai beeeeen hâte à la semaine prochaine!

Pour les photos je vais essayer d'en prendre plus! C'est pas évident parce que c'est ÉNORMÉMENT de travail au sol. En plus le MSC faut d'upload tes pics sur le net, d'avance, tu peux pas juste les uploader ici (plate un peu d'ailleurs, tous mes autres forums, tu peux uploader direct!)

J'en ai une couple dans mon cell, je vais essayer de vous uploader ca et de venir les linker ici ce soir

Une autre belle journée aujourd'hui, mais un peu fail côté progression. J'ai fait 2 vols encore une fois, premier vol j'ai royalement chié mon atterrissage, on a bouncé a peu près 15 pieds, le prof l'a reprit lol. Au moins on a pas cogné, et je comprends pourquoi c'est arrivé... j'ai trop rentré mes spoilers avant de toucher, et j'avais un peu trop de vitesse, donc on est repartis a voler. Si j'avais eu plus de spoilers, de 1 je serais rentré quelques noeuds moins vite, donc moins de portance, et les spoilers enlèvent beaucoup de portance aussi alors doublement moins de portance, on serait restés à terre.

Le deuxieme vol, semblable a mon aterissage de la semaine passée, le prof a aidé avec l'élévateur (tiré sur le stick pour monter le nez) un petit coup à la fin. Je ne penses pas que c'était nécessaire, je penses que j'étais correct, j'allais arrondir, mais un tout petit peu plus tard. Malgré tout, apres avoir tiré dessus un peu il l'a lâché, et j'ai fini mon landing tout seul, sans bouncer cette fois, mais on a touché un peu plus fort que ce que j'aurais aimé. J'ose croire que l'aide de l'instructeur m'a plus mêlé qu'autre chose, veux veut pas, ça a changé la trajectoire que j'avais visualisé. Rien de dramatique, et pas de quoi qu'on peut considérer comme un "hard landing" en aviation... Y'aurait fallu ca tappe 3-4x plus. Donc quand même pas pire if you ask me!

Tout de même, j'aurais aimé pouvoir en faire un sans la moindre aide aujourd'hui... Mais ca sera pour la prochaine fois!

Hehe merci man! Faut je fasse attention au budget, je ne peut pas y aller autant que je voudrais, mais je fais ce que je peux pour y être le plus possible... L'année prochaine ca va etre cool, je vais pouvoir passer l'hiver a m'accumuler un montant pour ca, donc quand la saison va recommencer, je pourrai peut etre y aller un peu plus... ou m'accumuler des sous pour pouvoir acheter mon propre planeur un jour...

Bon bin MSC oui oui MSC (Montreal Soaring Club) ont commencé à voler hier. Le bird-dog qui tirait un planneur faisait du quasi-surplace au dessus de ma maison.
