Permit moto.....
What do we have to do in Quebec to get a moto liscense these days?
What are the steps? Written test, then a real test, motorcycle school....
Then you have to ride with someone whoe has had their liscense for one year...then you can only get a bike that 600 cc or less???
What are the laws now?
Tu peux me repondre en francais si tu veux.....
Merci gang!

Here's the link to the SAAQ. It's in french...
http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/route/permis" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... _moto.html
Here's what it say's :
So,
First you get your Class 6R, buy successfully completing a written exam. You can now ride a bike during a class.
Second, at leat 1 month after getting your 6R licence, you can do the first "live" exam. You'll ride a motorcycle on a closed circuit. If succesfull, you now have a "Permis Probatoire". You can ride any bike, providing an experience rider is with you at ALL time on an other bike (he must have at least 24 months experience). No passenger for you, assuming you're over 25 or already have a valid class 5 permit (cars...)
Third, succesfully complet a second "live" exam. On the road. You will be give instructions via a CB from a following car. I also think you must wait a minimum period of time between these two exams. But I'm not sure.
You should be able to get all the info on the web site.
Cheers !
ps: I'm so happy I got my 6A licence six years ago !

Here's what it say's :

I know I know....I want a bike!!
but I'm scared.....even if I'm the BEST rider....theres still a LOT of supid people in cars and trucks that can kill you.....this is MONTREAL, after all!
How much is a good beginners USED bike? I'd be looking for an older 80's-90's bike around $3K. Sporty bike (not SPORT-BIKE)....just something fun....nothing with like 600 horsepower

I just bought an old Honda Interceptor 500, 1984, to replace my 1997 VFR (long story...).
It costed 2 000 $, plus insurances (250 $), licence plate (320 $).
It is no-way as fast has anything less then 10 years old. But it can get a lot of angle, very light and reliable.
So, you could be riding a lot sooner than you think !
check http://www.lespac.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a lot of used bikes. Don't be shy to ask if you have questions on a particular bike.

NO Even a small bore motorcycle is more than capable of blowing you to smithereens. A lighter motorcycle is easer to hold upright at low speed, but it's less stable on the highway. Anyways, a Yamaha R1 is lighter than a 1990 CBR 600. So the arguments falls a bit short here.Goose@Work a écrit :I have to look for 600cc and under right? as my first bike...
In your case, your budget will keep you to smaller bikes. But if you think you'll eventually move on to a large displacement bike, get a 750 or 1000 right away. You'll keep your bike a bit longer, and when you'll push it hard (wich you will, no matter what you say

Bandits are good.

If you want a great bike that does every thing, check these out:
http://www.vfr.qc.ca/fr/07/index.html#vfr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's the ad section of my motorcycle club. Great group of people, lots of serious riding buddies, ans very nice bike for sale. It's like having a second Montreal Subaru Club, for Honda VFR's !
