2018 Subaru WRX Sport Tech RS - Brake Question

Hi Everyone!

I recently bought a 2018 Subaru WRX Sport Tech RS. The car has Jurid brake pads. Under soft braking (ie traffic and in the city) they make a lot of noise (squealing). Is this normal? The car has 650km on it.

Its very annoying and slightly embarrassing for a brand new car.

Should I bring it back to the dealer for service?

Does anyone else have this issue?

Thank you!

Well I don't know about this specific brand but I can only assume they are considered "Sports/Track" pads. I'm still surprised Subaru would even deliver a car with track pads.. but anyway the more "sporty" a brake pad is, the more it requires heat to brake correctly. That being said, it would then be considered "normal" for a sport/track brake pad to squeak when not heated enough. So I can only assume, if you go back to the dealer, that they will tell you it's normal and basically to live with it.
As far as I can see the RS model is more "track oriented" so this all makes sense. So I don't know if you plan to track the car but if so, maybe keep the current brake set (drums and pads) for track, and get a cheaper/more standard set for day-to-day..

Honestly, I wouldn't consider these "race pads". They're basically some entry level Akebonos.
